Johnson Omoding

Digital Platforms Lead Knowledge Infrastructure Lead

Johnson Omoding is a digital systems specialist with expertise spanning web architecture, database administration, and enterprise resource planning environments. At Malkia Africa Network, he serves a dual function that directly mirrors the institution's two-arm model, building and maintaining the digital infrastructure that both arms depend on to do their work with integrity and reach.

Web Architecture Database Administration Enterprise Resource Planning Digital Evidence Systems Knowledge Platforms Policy Engagement Technology

Johnson's role is structured around the same logic as the institution itself: two arms, one purpose, each with a distinct function and a distinct infrastructure requirement.

Policy Arm

Johnson is the architect and lead developer of the HER Voice Digital Policy Hub, Malkia's flagship knowledge dissemination and policy engagement platform, through which research outputs reach policymakers, reform networks, and the public across the continent.

Field Lab

Johnson leads the digital evidence infrastructure that supports Malkia's structured field engagement: the systems through which field observations are documented, validated, and transferred into the research pipeline, preserving the evidentiary integrity that the Policy Arm's analysis depends on.

These are not generic technical functions. The HER Voice Hub is a policy-influence platform, not a website. The Field Lab's evidence infrastructure is a research-grade documentation system, not a database. Johnson builds both to the standard the institution's mission requires.

Johnson's own technical experience of the digital gender gap in African technology ecosystems is a living contribution to Malkia's research agenda on digital rights and women's economic participation.

His daily practice as a digital systems professional in an African technology context gives him direct, first-hand knowledge of the access barriers, infrastructure constraints, and platform exclusions that shape women's digital participation across the continent. That knowledge is not incidental to Malkia's research agenda; it is part of the evidence base. In this respect, Johnson's function at Malkia exemplifies the hybrid model's core logic: that the people who build the institution's infrastructure are not separate from its research identity, but contributors to it.
